I typed as rapidly as possible to see which were best for speed work.

Where particular people congregate

This photo fails to illustrate my point, but there, at least, is half the street fair.

the handout.  it has a coupon on the other side.

Science Cafe

No one approached me at all with the typewriter, but I *was* in the side room, not the main seating area, and I was typing for only a couple of minutes at a time.

Here is a similar presentation by the same speaker from last year:
The Art & Science of Reading

garden ride

Here is a link to the route we rode, plus my side trip to the store and back after I spilled the cream that one of the gardens had set out for visitors.  Look on the lower right of the screen for pic I took along the way.

Just a couple of things from today.

First, my ham license renewal came in the mail.  Hard to believe it's been 10 years already, all in the 21st century.

Second, a slide rule came from shopgoodwill.  This is a Pickett 1010 SL-ES "Super Power Trig".  I hope I'm man enough for it.

And lastly, to get back to typewriters, I saw a different trailer for the new movie "The Family" today and couldn't find it until the creepy targeted ads based on recent activity plopped it on my facebook feed.  So I clipped an image.   This trailer was the first I'd seen mentioning the MC's memoirs as a plot point.  It opens for half a second on his hands on a typewriter.  Because they are in France in the movie I thought it was a Japy, but the key shapes aren't quite right.  What do you think?

The correct answer was Smith-Corona Vantage.  I sure wondered if the key design was an infringement on Olivetti's Praxis design.

Here's a better-framed pic stolen (uncredited) from an ebay listing because turnabout's fair play.

Holiday Bikecast

beaver dam

beaver damage

iced mocha

I went to Goodwill after, and found an electric typewriter I didn't bring home (besides being electric, I plugged it in and didn't get a hum so it was more a doorstop at that point, though I may have tried a dead outlet), but I thought it would be a good guessing game.  Who made it?  I'll save the revealing pic for next post.

First clue, here's the keyboard.

 second clue - ball element

sunday bikecast

forgot to add the pic of the Royal at Goodwill!

another note from Erika

test typecast

Interestingly, it has both dollar and pound signs, yet is still a German layout.  I wonder if it was for a traveling correspondent of some variety.
