I didn't get photos taken of the Hermes or the slide rule so I'm showing those now.
The Hermes you read about before.  Inside the lid, however, I found the book and two brushes!  I've seldom seen the brushes.

So here's the machine inside:

The slide rule is a puzzle.  I think the cursor is off an old K&E 4053 but the rule doesn't match up in several ways.  I'm still researching it.

  1. I think I may even have the key. Remind me to bring it to the next type in. Promise me this though, these will be the last pictures of this evil machine on the intertubes!

  2. Ok Deal. You're funny.

Should I name him Blofeld or George Spelvin?

  3. I'm jealous of that machine.

Now the slide rule? Maybe not as much.

  4. @Strikethru: I don't care, that's a fine looking Hermes! Back in school, we had the option of electing for calculator or slide rule in maths exams. Needless to say, I took the analogue option, even age 16.

  5. Rob - good for you! I used mine for the Amatuer radio exams. I started collecting slipsticks a few years ago but it's harder to find opportunities to use them than it is typewriters.
